Stargazing Night (rearranged from September)

Stargazing
The Night Sky and the Naked Eye
Thurs 3 November, 7:30pm, Dane Valley Woods, free!
Dane Valley Woods is hosting an exciting star gazing event on Thursday 3 November from 7:30pm, held at Dane Valley Woods, just follow the signs along the cycle path from the Dane Valley Rd / Kent Rd junction to find us. The event is being led by Monkton Stargazers (read more about them here: http://www.monkton-reserve.org/monkton-stargazers/). We will be having a tour of the night sky, finding out what we can see with the naked eye. The event is free to attend, we are simply asking for donations.
It is highly important that you check if the event is still running by 1pm on Thursday 3rd, as this event is highly weather dependent.
Please let us know if you intend to come along, so we can get an idea of numbers.

Astronomy Night

All are welcome for a visit by the Thanet Astronomical Society, who will be giving a talk, followed by a star gazing session (weather permitting). Equipment will be available, but please feel free to bring your own. Hopefully the clouds will stay away, and we can all take advantage of the lack of nearby street lights for a clear sight of the Perseids meteor shower, stars and planets.

Remember to bring a red torch or cycle light, as white light is not good for when your eyes are adjusting to the dark! Look out for our gazebo which you should be able to see from the Dane Valley Road / Kent Road junction.

The Astronomy Night is preceded earlier in the day by our  Summer Open Day
